first-ever comprehensive means of comparing the status of population

- Mapping Health Spending and Insurance Coverage in Ohio

In 2006, as an important first step for improving the health care
system in Ohio, the Health Policy Institute of Ohio commissioned a
study to analyze health care spending and insurance coverage in the
state. The study's lead authors, principals at Health Management
Associates, shared the study's major findings and discussed coverage
expansion reform options for Ohio.

Participants learned why health spending is not just a cost, but an
investment, and how workforce health impacts corporate performance and
productivity. One local employer, Nationwide Better Health shared how
it has achieved significant reductions in absence and disability costs
by integrating benefit plans.

In late 2006, the Health Policy Institute of Ohio held a series of forums on Health Care Coverage: Are There Lessons From Other States?
Held in three parts, the series focused on innovative health care
reform models such as Florida’s Medicaid reforms, Massachusett's
recently enacted plan for universal health care, and private insurance
reforms.

market and to gain insight into potential policy options.
- Employer Health Management Forum

A forum offering different perspectives on employer workforce health
management strategies (such as requiring employees to not smoke either
on or off the job and offering incentives and penalties for employees
to exercise and stay healthy).
- Ohio Dental Workforce Roundtable
A health policy dialogue from 2005 which explored dental workforce
issues and developed recommendations for increasing access to dental
care for vulnerable Ohioans.
